What can I do?

I am totally overwhelmed with this computer. I need to do something about it like turn it off. But, I want to listen to music. I know, I'll use my ipod. Ok, as soon as this is done syncing I'm turning off the computer.

AND I WILL NOT GO ON TOMORROW NIGHT.

I can't say tomorrow because I work on the f-in internet.

Seriously though. I'm in this weird druggish zone out thing and my brain is noooooot right. It's like when you play too many video games and it goes on in your head. I'm like.............navigating the internet in my head. Ok, byyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeee

Goody!

I obtained a pen pal today in Iceland. His name is Stefán and he is 26. :D I'm excited!!! It really should be called keyboard pals though because it's via email.

This may come as a shock, but my teacher has been wanting me to look for jobs in Iceland since I am looking for jobs. She asks me all the time about it. I have looked actually quite a bit, but today I kind of decided that I'm not really ready for it at the moment. My class yesterday was a huge shock. I would like to know it quite a bit better before I start seriously looking at stuff, because for one thing I can hardly read the job postings. There was this word that took me at least 5 minutes to figure out today, and I think it was software developer, but I'm still not totally sure. My vocabulary is horrible because we don't do vocab in my class. I guess I could study my supplementary materials more. And besides having a bad vocabulary, the job postings are all technical words and stuff, which doesn't help. Nothing like what I'm used to, which is talking about what I do in my life. (I've mastered the word "absolutely nothing" - j/k) Besides all that, I'm not completely sure I would do well with a huge life change like that. I'm surprised I'm allowing myself to be that realistic about it, but it's true. I definitely would need to think about it a lot and I would like to at least know a few people there. I already know 3 people just from my class and am about to know one more, so that's a start.

It snowed a ton all day today. Weird...

OMG!

I had my speaking class just now. Chriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssssssstttttttttttt it was hard. Wow. I feel like I have just learned more in an hour than I learned in two months. Seriously. My brain is in the process of exploding. I was surprised by on the fly questions about my life and had to kind of struggle through them. At the moment I am not up to the same level as the people in my class because they live in Iceland and have for some time. How am I in their same level??? We did not speak in English at all, so I was a little bit lost on some parts. I feel really, really overwhelmed right now. I'm going to go do something that requires minimal brain power now.

Seriously, I did not really realize until now how bizarre this is. How was I able to get through an entire class without speaking English? I did not think I was capable of that. And really, I was not that ready.

Jar City

I just finished watching the movie that I was talking about earlier today, Jar City. The funny thing is, the Icelandic title is Mýrin, which means The Swamp. So...not really sure how they got that. Anyway, I really liked it and I especially liked that I felt I could understand a lot of it, better than the one I watched last night. Here is a picture from imdb of one of the stars of Jar City. Is he not adorable?!?! I think so. I have the movie for 24 hours so I think I'm going to import it into my computer tonight whilst I sleep, and then burn it to a DVD.

Cute

I love this site logo. :D
http://visitakureyri.is/ ...thanks, I will!

Weird

I was looking for Icelandic films on netflix and I saw this one called Jar City, but it said not available because it's in theaters right now. Then, I was on On Demand last night and it was on there as part of the "in theaters" thing that they have. Really??? An Icelandic film on On Demand. I'm kind of shocked about that. I'm watching it ASAP! I'm remembering now, though, that there was another one on On Demand called The Sea. That movie was ok. I got it from netflix. I watched one last night called Eleven Men Out. It was ok. It was about this guy who blurts out one day that he's gay. It actually didn't have very much of a plot, now that I'm thinking about it. From that movie, I learned how to say gay and lesbian and also how to say calm down. Movies they make there are by and large really light on plot. They're just kind of people running around doing various stuff.

I am adding this after I originally wrote, but they went to this bar in the movie that was called "Gay Bar" (In English). LOL ROTFLMAO

Video

At Brighton's request, I am posting a video that I find hysterical. I hope you guys like it.

Talk about it at Videocracy

My first blog entry in Icelandic

Can you believe that only took me about 10 minutes to write???

Íslenska

I had my first speaking class of level 2 yesterday. I was really nervous, but it turned out really fun. The guy from my last class was in this class too. We had another girl who's Polish, so she didn't speak any English. It was actually a lot of fun. I was surprised. I was really proud of myself as well. I am starting to speak pretty well and my teacher wrote me an email that said good job on the bump up to level 2. :) My teacher keeps telling me "þetta kemur" which means it will come, because some of the stuff takes forever to figure out. I can't remember who I tell this stuff to or if I ever mention it on here, but the nouns are ridiculous. So far we've only learned 12 out of the possible 48 (and not to mention the million exceptions). But each week there's something new, and like she says, þetta kemur. I've gotten a ton better just by repeating them a few times. I also am seeing such an improvement in speaking, which was my worst part. I can talk basically without halting (especially if I'm reading), which is awesome! I'm not really at the point where I can have a really high-level conversation, but for things like hi, how are you, what's your name, stuff like that I can do great. I'm also really good at saying "how do you say" and "what does that mean?" My other two great sentences are "work is stressful" and "I hope he feels better soon!" for some reason. We were trying to tell the Polish girl why we started to learn Icelandic and I found out that the other guy is learning because of Sigur Rós too. Haha! Can you imagine? So I sent him an email to learn more about it. The funniest thing about my class yesterday was when we were trying to say this word that apparently none of us can say. We must have all said it 30 times. It got kind of hysterical for a minute. Well, as far as American Idol, I loved David Cook and I don't really remember anything that should be on The Soup. My predictions didn't come true last week. :( Hope everyone's week is going well. Mine is insane. Here I am up at 1 again. I can't believe how busy I've been lately. It's so unlike me. Later!

I am so proud

I was just listening to Sigur Rós and I understood a lyric I didn't know before, and recognized it from one of my recent classes! I'm so proud!!! And happy, because it's my favorite sounding line from that song.

Busy day

Thanks to Michael's great help, I finally finished my damn resume (pronounced re-zoom) and I just sent it to him so he can give it to some people at his company. Hopefully I can also update it some other places too and lightly look around. I'm not TOO terribly serious about it like I was a few weeks ago, but now that I have everything updated, that part's done at least. It was horrid to finish and took me forever - a little over a month. I felt bad because I kept telling him "I'm still working on it!" I was, but seriously Elizabeth, a month?

Today I went to some places with Joel to look at musical instruments after work. It was pretty fun. He is a hilarious person to go to places like that with just because of how he acts towards people. (Pretty rude or at least matter-of-fact) He was like "I toned it down because you were there." Thanks a lot, Joel! He bought a Gordon Lightfoot CD at one place and I could not stop laughing at him. He was looking around and I said "What are you looking for?" When he said Gordon Lightfoot I thought he was joking and then he went and bought it. Then we ate at a place and I didn't get home until 8 and was surprised. I didn't exercise today because of my knee, which sucks. It's totally purple now.

Then I was talking to this dude on IM for a while and trying to talk to Michael and get my re-zoom done, and then Dan called me on the phone. WTF? So then I talked to Dan for like 2 hours and by that time it was 12:30. Then I finished all of my crap.

I totally forgot to call my therapist today (Isn't that a cliched sentence) and DAMMIT I keep forgetting to register for Icelandic. I really need to do that now.

Today was weird at work too. I have a topic to talk about that's all the buzz at work that I don't have the energy to think about now. I was trying to do a project today and I got sidetracked constantly and I hardly did anything on it. My boss was really talkative today too which didn't help.

Ok...going to register for my class now. Later.

ouch

I was just defrosting my car and wiped out on the ice. I hit my knee on a jagged piece of ice and scraped it up. I also scraped up my hands. I am in pain and I'm all shaky! Why is it that I'm always falling down in the winter?

Ridiculous eye

My left eye started to have spasms about 2 weeks ago, and it keeps getting worse...right now my eye is basically spasming constantly. I'm going to call the doc today or tomorrow, at least to ask if it's something bad. It's really weird...I hope it isn't anything bad!

We had a long discussion here at work this morning and I was assured that I didn't do anything wrong. I feel a lot better about it, so hopefully I can move on from this situation! I got a meetin' now so sees y'all later!

Bad day

So, some crap happened on Friday and I got my ass chewed out REALLY BAD. It was the same thing that I wrote about several weeks ago. It was one of the developers that got pissed. He wrote an email after I left and I made the mistake of reading it yesterday. I am actually really bummed about it and I don't want to go to work tomorrow. I'm not sure how to deal with it.

I'm sooooooooooooooooo bored

Somebody call me tonight or tomorrow or something!

Fries

Does anyone know, Brighton perhaps, why fries are considered bad? Is it saturated fat? I was thinking about it a lot today. Potatoes are (arguably) good, and then you just throw them in oil. Does the oil change the molecular structure of the potato so that it becomes a lot worse? I actually made some today. I literally peeled some potatoes, threw them in a thing of oil, and then ate them. And so I was thinking about it a lot and why they are so bad. I thought it probably was because they changed somehow, like the vitamins get leeched out or something. I know that if you cook vegetables for too long, the vitamins get leeched out.

The Soup

I was right about Ryan's antics being on The Soup. :D Just wanted to point that out. Also, so were The Kardashians and Arch forgetting the words.

Where is everyone, anyway? I swear, I haven't talked to some of you people in weeks.

wow

I just signed up on this website yesterday that I'm not going to name because I don't want people to go there and see me on it. Anyway, I've been on there for like 78 hours and I'm exhausted. Aren't certain websites addicting? I DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT AV CLUB TODAY! Ok, yes I did, to send a link to Brighton, but I didn't read anything on it. This website has taken over my life!!! You know it's something huge when it prevents me from looking at AV Club. There was some great stuff on AVC today, too.

I stayed home from work today 'cause I had an anemic "episode". I don't know what to call that. Just when I get excessively anemic. It's happened maybe 10 times in my life. I just gotta take pills for a while. I'll probably need 3 hours to wake up tomorrow, so I hope I can manage to get to work on time.
